GCSP Multidisciplinary
Connecting computer science and applied mathematics to solve problems with both theory and implementation.
Overview
The multidisciplinary component of my GCSP plan is built around my double major in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics. This combination strengthens how I approach complex systems by pairing strong theoretical tools with practical implementation skills, allowing me to move from problem formulation to real solutions that can be evaluated and improved.
Computer Science Perspective
Computer science gives me the practical skills to design, build, and test various computer system such as web browsers, networks, and software which is essential for development of these systems. It supports my interests in cybersecurity, systems thinking, and research by emphasizing engineering discipline, tooling, and the ability to validate ideas through implementation.
Applied Mathematics Perspective
Applied mathematics strengthens my ability to model and analyze complex behavior, especially when logic, theory and understanding matter. It supports the way I reason about algorithms, error analysis, optimization, and correctness, which all show up in real computing systems, especially in safety critical or security sensitive settings.
Where They Meet
Computer science is the outlet through which I do my practical work and turn ideas into systems that solve real problems. Applied mathematics has taught me how to reason carefully, recognize underlying structures, and approach difficult questions. Although I build through computer science, mathematics and logic remain at the core of how I think. My goal is to combine these disciplines to understand and solve hard problems that require both rigorous reasoning and effective implementation.
How This Supports My GCSP Theme
Secure cyberspace requires people who can reason across disciplines. This multidisciplinary background helps me evaluate tradeoffs between correctness, efficiency, and real world constraints, and it helps me communicate across technical domains when working on teams that include researchers, engineers, and stakeholders.
